Supporting the entire OP, IP, Emergency and critical care patient population at The Mission Hospital are the Departments of Routine Biochemistry, Advanced Special Biochemistry, Immunology, Molecular Diagnostics, Hematology, Histopathology, Clinical pathology, Microbiology, Serology, Cytopathology. Each department is equipped with the latest technological advancements from companies like Beckman Coulter, Roche, Siemens, Biotron. , Biomerieux etc .Our strict adherance to ethical practice and cutting-edge technology has provided us an enviable position in the diagnostics market.
Ours is the only lab in this district to be performing Advanced special techniques like Immunofluorescence microscopy for diagnosis of autoimmune disorders, PCR, semen processing for Intrauterine insemination, triple test for detection of genetic disorders in babies in-utero, Immunohistochemistry and tumor marker assay for cancer detection and monitoring, and thallaessemia screening ,all under one roof, each report going in for detailed analysis and interpretation of dedicated Laboratory doctors .
The Reporting system is based on stringent quality control procedures, both internal and external with Biorad laboratories. Rapid turnaround time, high precision and accuracy and online report availability are salient features of our reporting system.
The Institute of laboratory medicine, besides the dedicated 24 x 7 lab and pneumatic chute, is supported by dedicated phlebotomists par excellence. Our Phlebotomy is dedicated to OP, IP collection, home collection and even operates from outreach collection centers in far flung areas like Siliguri, Kolkata, Dhanbad and Asansol. Their techniques are the latest and comparable with the best in the world.
Special portfolios of tests are available and upgraded time-to-time keeping in mind needs of the patients and society at large. Very popular amongst people on the other side of 40 are our Diabetes panels, Executive health checks, executive cardiac health checks, urology package, and arthritis package. Also high on demand are the anemia panels, antenatal panel, Well woman check, menopausal panels and pediatric executive panel aimed at screening for and detecting the earliest signs of ill health in our women and children.
Ongoing research projects play an Integral role in the academic curriculum of The Institute of Lab Medicine and Research with Universities like Jiwaji University Gwalior, Amity University Noida, beside Colleges in and around Burdwan dist. and Kolkata sending their students of BSC and MSc Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology for research projects.
From a modest beginning just 3 years back, the Institute of Laboratory Medicine and Research at The Mission Hospital, Durgapur, now performs around 35000 tests per month, catering to over 150 consultants in Durgapur and Burdwan districts. We already have collection centers in 4 places and have provisions for newer centers at 10 more sites. We are a referral center for more than 65 laboratories, nursing homes and hospitals. We have embarked on a journey to provide a better life with a single-minded determination to build an unbreakable bond of implicit trust and to strengthen relations with society at large. This is only the beginning.
